Half day tours
On a daily basis we offer a choice of the half day tours (Max 4 hrs). They are a comfortable and easy way to explore the region. Undoubtedly an experience that leaves a lasting memory of Norway in your mind and probably also on your camera.
The town of Ulvik may be small but it holds an interesting historical and cultural story. This walk is the best way to explore the town and its surrounding natural beauty. We will take you to various interesting locations that give Ulvik its identity. You can expect poetry, local arts and crafts, fruit and cider, and various historical sights. After this excursion you will understand why Ulvik is called “the Pearl of Hardanger”.
Ulvik is probably most famous for its fruit and cider farms. The Hardanger Fjord area is known as the fruit orchard of Norway. Nowhere on the world is it possible to grow fruit on this latitude (about 60 degrees north). The mild climate in the Hardanger region, the protective geography from the elements and the long summer days add up to an ideal location for fruit farming. We take you along the cider route and stop by these family run cider farms where you can experience the pride and legacy, which the owners have put in their products for generations. Every cider farm has its unique specialty and approach to processing fruit and food.
And we might just have a tasting sample on the way.
We take you to Osa, a few kilometers east from Ulvik. Osa is situated at the foot of the Hardangervidda mountain plateau. A car will take you up following a spectacular winding road. On the top –ca 1.200 m high- we stop at a reservoir lake, named Langevatnet. From here you have an amazing panorama and a view on the Hardangerjøkulen glacier. Then we will take you on a walk through this unique moon-like terrain and tell a 100 years old story of water and energy about remarkable events that took place in this area.
You haven’t been in Norway when you haven’t seen it from the fjord side! Not that long ago the fjords where the highways of Norway. We will take you back to that time on this guided sightseeing tour. Not only the view is incredible but also the historic, cultural and traditional value of this building and many “Fjord farms” will trigger your imagination of how life was in this part of Norway, until about 50 years ago.
